The Maria Eichhorn Aktiengesellschaft, which was first displayed at Documenta11 and was awarded the 2002 Arnold Bode Prize, acquired by theVan Abbemuseum. The principal characteristics of this public limited company are that:

[1] The assets which the company obtained upon its formation remain unchanged.
[2] All shares were transferred to the company itself. The company no longer belongs to the shareholders because they have transferred their shares to the company. The company belongs to itself, so to speak.

In addition to the texts by the three authors, which establish the political, economic, judicial and art-theory context of the work, the publication also contains documents relevant to the work, such as decisions of the Tax Office for Corporations and the contractual agreement between Maria Eichhorn and the Van Abbemuseum. These documents give an insight both into the ongoing business and continued running of the public limited company and the status of the work within a museum collection.
