On show in the Van Abbemuseum during the Dutch Design Week 2007 is the exhibition ‘Cityplan- The most modern design for Eindhoven’. It expands on the spectacular city expansion plan designed by architects Van den Broek en Bakema at the end of the sixties, giving their view on the city of Eindhoven. Jean Leering, director of the Van Abbemuseum at that time, organised an exhibition to illustrate this Cityplan. The decision making process was cause for a many rumors at the time. In the end, the Cityplan was rejected. The current exhibition gives insight in the original Cityplan, and also shows the exhibition as it was then and to what extend this exhibition contributed to the decision-making process.
