The artist JCJ Vanderheyden researches the basic principles of painting, but at the same time he studies our ways of seeing. He paints and experiments with a wide range of media such as photography, printing and video.

During his visual research JCJ Vanderheydenbuilt up an important archive consisting of sketches, writing, photographs, snapshots, models and reproductions. Especially for the library exhibition, Vanderheyden made a choice from these unique and previously unexhibited materials

Closed during weekends.

Opening times: Tuesday to Sunday, 11:00 to 17:00. The museum is closed on Monday, with the exception of public holidays. The museum is closed on New Year's Day, King's Day and Christmas Day. The Van Abbemuseum is open until 21:00 on the first Thursday evening of the month, admission to the museum is free from 17:00 on those nights. The museum cafe is also open until 21:00 on these evenings. We offer an internet connection via WIFI in the whole museum.
