The Van Abbemuseum shows the first institutional solo exhibitions of three established artists. By exhibiting the diversity of works by Pavel Büchler (Czechoslovakia, 1952), Avi Mograbi (Israel, 1956) and Frances Stark (USA, 1967) side by side, an overview of the contemporary art scene today occurs.
The solo exhibition by Büchler gives the audience an opportunity to see a wider range of his work, following the presentation of his major work The Castle in Plug In #1 in the Van Abbemuseum in 2006.
The solo exhibition by well-known Israeli filmmaker Avi Mograbi’s shows the audience the world ‘else where’, at the same time allowing us to understand the state of the global politics that surround us.
The Van Abbemuseum has invited Stark for her first European retrospective: The Fall of Frances Stark, which shows 50 works among which paintings, collages, drawings and videos made between 1993 and 2007.
The exhibition Pavel Büchler is in cooperation with Kunsthalle Bern and Frankfurter Kunstverein.
