Description

Herman Heijenbrock is interested in labour conditions and industrial production processes, especially the education value in representing labour. This fascination has led him to different industrial districts in Europe, including in Wales. In 1929, he established the Museum van den Arbeid (Museum of Labour) in Amsterdam with the goal of ‘learning to appreciate even the smallest labour that is carried out daily by thousands of unknown workers, and bringing this labour to the attention of children and adults so that they will better understand their fellow humans in society and love them more than they did until now.’
