Dorp in de lente
The Van Abbemuseum Collection consists of over 2800 artworks. We publish texts and images on an ongoing basis, but this record is currently in the process of being documented.
Permeke’s 'Village in Spring' and 'Summer' are painted in the 1930s just after the Great Crash of 1929 that plunged the Western world into an economic crisis. Painted in broad brush strokes, these works glorify farm life and the simplicity of rural existence.
