CANCELLED: Affirmation of the New Positions #2
ATTENTION! Because of the farewell ceremonie for René Pingen, director of the Stedelijk Museum 's-Hertogenbosch, we have decided to cancel this lecture.

The lecture takes place in the auditorium.
Sarah Pierce (lives and works in Dublin, Ireland) works with performance, installations, video and archival material to research sites and contexts of artistic production and their public display. She plays with the terms of making and mediating art, past artworks, forgotten objects and left-overs of exhibitions. In one of her installations in Positions #2 the history of El Lissitzky and Alice Milligan is evoked (Gag, 2015).
For Positions #2 she has invited Willem Jan Renders, the curator of Russsian art at the Van Abbemuseum to give an introductory lecture on the works of El Lissitzky and how he developed the famous Proun concept (the Project for the Affirmation of the New). He will look at the connection between Van Abbemuseum and El Lissitzky both in the past and the present.
