Ceremonial closing of the first Werksalon season

Welcome to the Eind(je)feest!

A day made by and for Eindhoven which marks the end of the first season of the Werksalon.

Groups from the city were invited to take part in the museum in the Werksalon, a special space in the museum designed for gathering which also gives title to this project.

They have worked enthusiastically, and today they will show you what they have been doing the past year. You are welcome in the Werksalon for a drink, a snack, a chat and a picture.

1- Learning with Queer artists (EN)
11.00 - 13.00

Always been curious about queer theories? Luca Soudant provides a workshop to explore together what we can learn from queer perspectives in the museum and in art.

2. 'Blend, Behave, Belong' workshop (EN)
11.00-12.30, 15.30- 17.00

Art can make us blend. Experience yourself this artwork by Franz Erhard Walther guided by the Internationalocals. The Internationalocals are members of the Expat Spouses Initiative in Eindhoven. 

3. Yael Davids - A Daily Practice, phase 2: Public Feldenkrais lesson in dialogue with Moholy-Nagy (EN)
11.00 - 13.00

Do you want to experience art in a different way? Follow a public Feldenkrais lesson under the direction of artist Yael Davids, as part of her research project A Daily Practice. During this session you will perform movements that break and accentuate unconscious physical patterns. By approaching art with the body, new aspects of art will be uncovered. 

4. Dialogue session Green Guests (NL)
12.15-14:00

Is art sustainable? Dialogue and learn about sustainability in the art museum and in the preservation of art. The Groene Gasten are entrepreneurs and designers on the field of sustainability in the city.

5. Qwearing the Collection (EN)
13.00-13.30, 15.30-16.00

Wear the museum! Join a talk with Olle Lundin about the garments he specially designed to change the experience of the museum and the art on display. 

Olle Lundin is part of the Queer Constituency which contributes to the visibility of the LGBTIQ+ heritage in the museum.

6. Book Presentation Eindhoven Moves Us (NL)
13.30 - 14.30

Celebrate the diversity of Eindhoven!

Eindhoven Moves Us is a city project about the diversity of Eindhoven set up by Wikke Peters. It resulted, among other things, in a publication that she is presenting today.

7. Children’s Art Club (NL)
14.00- 16.00

Every Saturday afternoon there is a Children's Art Club for kids between 6 and 10 years old. Together with a guide they can look at art, and create artworks. 

8. Van Abbemuseum choir concert
14.30 - 15.00

Enrich your museum experience with music. The Van Abbemuseum choir will be singing Syrian songs and compositions of different artists. 

The Van Abbemuseum Choir is composed of volunteers who aim to get closer to art through singing.

Meet Gestel by Agents of Change (NL)
15.00- 16.00

Meet social initiatives from the district of Gestel! The Agents of Change have mapped social initiatives from Eindhoven. Today they will introduce the social initiatives they are working with in Gestel.

10. Multi-sensory tour (NL)
15.00-16.00

Challenge your senses: discover the museum with your eyes closed. You will be able to touch works of art from the collection. Artworks will also come to life through music, literature and scent. This tour has been specially developed for and by blind and visually impaired visitors, but today everyone will have the chance to discover art in a new way!

For this activity, you have to sign up at the registration table in the Entrance Hall.

11. Women in art  (NL)
14.45-16.00

Woman up! Take a tour about female artists in the Van Abbe collection with the Eindhoven Soroptimists. They are a local department of an international organization of professional women who are committed to improve the position of women and girls, and promote human rights.

For this activity, you have to sign up at the registration table in the Entrance Hall.

12. All day long: Lounge in the Werksalon/Loungen in de Werksalon
11.00 - 17.00

Need a pause? Grab something to eat and drink, relax in the lounge and listen to music. Also: find more information about the groups taking part in the Werksalon project.

13. Wrap up talk with Charles Esche
16.30 - 17.00

Together with director Charles Esche we look back on the first season of the Werksalon.

14. Included Concert (NL)
14.30 - 17.00

Join this event about solidarity. Diverse organisations will give short speeches about solidarity. These statements will be accompanied by music, visual arts and dance.
