Course III: The Collection Now

27/02/2016 - 19/03/2016
11:15 - 13:15

This course takes you deeper into certain themes of the exhibition.

Under the title 'The Collection Now' artworks, documentation and archive material are presented around specific themes that connect the works with the social context in which they were created and exhibitioned.

With that, the entire new building of the Van Abbemuseum takes an entirely new approach to our own collection: from a Picasso from 1909 to works made in 2013. For the first time such a large part of the collection, more than 600 artworks and archive pieces, is brought together in a presentation. Apart from art from the last century an important part is devoted to art from 1989 and recent purchases that have not been shown before.
