DDW Music @ Van Abbe Jeangu Macrooy and Sunday Sun

16:00 - 18:30

Dutch Design Week (DDW) reinforces the festival feel with its DDW Music programme. Throughout the event, which runs from Saturday 22 until Sunday 30 October in Eindhoven, there are daily live performances at different locations in the city; one of them is the Van Abbemuseum!

In the Van Abbemuseum you can enjoy performances by Jeangu Macrooy and Sunday Sun.

16.00: doors open

16.30 – 17.15: Jeangu Macrooy

Originally hailing from Paramaribo, Suriname, Jeangu Macrooy relocated to the Netherlands in 2014, to study at the Academy of Pop Music at ArtEZ. Indeed, his timeless sound transcends borders, geographically, historically, and musically: It's hard to place his soulful, R&B-inflected indie rock, which sounds something like Damien Rice with a touch of TV on the Radio. Don't miss your chance to see this 3FM Serious Talent in concert.

17.45 – 18.30: Sunday Sun

Indie poppers Sunday Sun distill sunny radio pop back to the 60's with catchy choruses worthy of the Beach Boys. The Amsterdam rockers bring their unabashedly feel-good tunes to Eindhoven on their current acoustic tour.

There will also be a visual performance, hosted by the Van Abbemuseum's Young Art Crowd, during the show.

All concerts (with the exception of the specials) are free to anyone with a DDW go-as-you-please ticket (available online: €17.50 ex. service charges). Without a go-as-you-please ticket, entrance is €5.00 per concert (tickets only available at the door). Please note: there is a limited number of seats available, even to visitors with a DDW ticket.

This year DDW Music – which attracted over 5000 visitors in 2015 – returns a second time, organised by DDW, the Effenaar and booking agency Friendly Fire (known for the festival Best Kept Secret).
