This project begins with a workshop aiming to investigate the aesthetic and physical form of the demonstration as a means of protest and asks: why the demonstration is still adopted by groups across the world? Is this very physical, spatially specific form still relevant in the context of the much more expanded possibility of online community action? And what does it mean when contemporary art and design adopts the aesthetics of demonstration?
Participants:?Merel Brands, Clare Butcher (Your-space curator), Martin Groen, Sarie Hermens, Jordy Koevoets, Erik Krikortz (initiator), Loes van der Kruk, Erik van Liere, Martijn Sanders, Suzanne Timmer, Mirthe Wacki, Angela de Weijer
The week-long workshop (19-23 April, 2010) in the museum’s Studio is open to invited participants but anyone who is interested in following the content of the workshop discussions and creative process can do so via the Demonstration TV station near the elevator on Level B-1 and a number of other connected activities.
