Vestito sassi
On the occasion of the Dutch design Week the Van Abbemusuem presents a reenactment of the sixties performance with the stone dress. Musc from Riccardo Collela and piero Gilardi.
Starting in 1964 the Italian artist piero Gilardi experimented with clothes of polyurethane, with the aim to create certain situations, circumstances and provocations. His Vestiti (dresses) can be divided into two categories: Vestiti stati d'animo (mood suits) and Vestiti Natura (nature dresses). The first type represents feelings and emotions, while the dresses belonging to the second category with their themes of fruit, vegetables and organic components resemble Gilardi’s Tappeti Natura (nature carpets)
Each dress was presented by means of a performance. The first event took place in the house of the artist; then followed by performances at the Piper Club in Turin. The dresses were worn by performers who staged a dance, often in interaction with the carpets.
