DWDD pop-up museum Amsterdam Van Abbe collection through the eyes of Marc-Marie Huijbregts

29/01/2015 - 24/05/2015

At the Allard Pierson Museum in Amsterdam

De Wereld Draait Door (DWDD, "The World Keeps Turning") is opening a pop-up museum in the Allard Pierson Museum, the archeology museum of the University of Amsterdam, on 29 January 2015.  The VARA television programme is celebrating its tenth anniversary with this. The regular guests round the table will furnish part of the Allard Pierson Museum with works stored in ten large museums in the Netherlands in the context of the theme “Hidden Artists”.

The Van Abbemuseum is linked to the cabaret artist and actor Marc-Marie Huijbregts. He will search for works by hidden masters in the museum stores as a guest curator. He will be given the opportunity to furnish one gallery in the Allard Pierson Museum with these works, entirely according to his own ideas and taste.

The ten participating guest curators and museums

Jasper Krabbé - Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam
Cécile Narinx - Centraal Museum Utrecht
Herman Pleij - Museum Catharijneconvent
Halina Reijn - Museum de Fundatie
Marc-Marie Huijbregts - Van Abbemuseum
Nico Dijkshoorn - Het Drents Museum
Pieter van Vollenhoven/Nico de Haan - Rijksmuseum/ Special Collections of the UvA
Joost Zwagerman - Gemeentemuseum Den Haag
Fidan Ekiz - Nederlands Fotomuseum

The DWDD pop-up museum is made possible with the support of Mondriaan Fund and the VSBfonds. NRC Handelsblad publishes a special pop-up newspaper for this occasion.
