Back and neck (AY 445).
With works by Bruce Nauman & stanley brouwn.

These lessons are led by Yael Davids in English.

Yael Davids: A Daily Practice includes The School, a programme of thematic Feldenkrais lessons composed by Davids in relation to works from the museum’s collection. These lessons will take place in the central room of the exhibition, which will be temporarily closed for other visitors. You can join with or without Feldenkrais experience.

Somatic learning

During a Feldenkrais lesson, participants are guided through a series of movements. The method was developed by Moshé Feldenkrais (1904-1984) based on the principle that changing the way we move leads to a change in how we think, observe and feel. The lessons will take place in a designated room in the exhibition. During the lessons, this room will be closed to other visitors.

Reservations

Please use the button above to make a reservation. Each lesson has a maximum of 8 participants. Advance booking is required. Should the class of your choice be fully booked, you will be notified as soon as possible. If the class you would like to attend is full, please send an email to reserveringen[@]vanabbemuseum.nl with a mention of your name and telephone number and we will add your name to the waiting list.

Practical information

The class is free. However, you do need a valid museum ticket which you can buy here. Make sure you are present 10 minutes before the start of the lesson, which lasts approximately one hour and takes place in the central room of the exhibition. Please wear comfortable, warm clothes. Mats are provided but please bring a towel. Close to the main entrance there are lockers where you can store your telephone and other belongings.

Accessibility

During a Feldenkrais lesson, the teacher describes – with spoken word – a series of movements which the participants are invited to carry out (the teacher does not show the movements). The movements often use the torso muscles, such as rolling and sitting. The Feldenkrais lessons are accessible for participants who are blind or partially sighted. The lessons are not suited for deaf participants.

NB: The lessons wil be documented by a photographer and may be included in a future publication.
