Garden Tour - Hear, smell and see the summer garden of the Van Abbemuseum
Garden Tour Hear, smell and see the summer garden of the Van Abbemuseum
This summer you can go on a journey of discovery in the garden of the Van Abbemuseum: the largest artwork the collection. This Garden Tour stimulates the senses of children and their parents with both culture and nature.
See, hear, smell and feel the surroundings of the museum with the Tour booklet. Through playful DIY-assignments for the whole family, you’ll explore the beautiful stories that can be found in the garden. Enjoy the artworks around the Dommel river, discover the plant islands in the museum pond and stroll through the front yard, designed by landscape architect Piet Oudolf.
Piet Oudolf (known for the High Line in New York) designed the front yard of the Van Abbemuseum: “I like to think of the garden as a living painting. All the different colours, shapes, lines and structures form a special whole in which there is plenty to discover.” At the start of the Garden Tour, Oudolf himself will give a unique digital introduction. You can watch this mini-documentary about the garden of the Van Abbemuseum here.
