Guerrilla Girls Tour
Guerrilla Girls Tour
On 20 October Marjon de Groot will give a guided tour of the exhibition ‘Guerrilla Girls 1985 – now’, which can be seen at the museum until 15 January 2017. The Guerrilla Girls’ work criticises the art world’s sexist, racist and corrupt power structures. Even today, museum collections continue to be dominated by works by white male artists.
We are going to investigate this issue in the on-going exhibition ‘The Collection Now’. Which works are by female artists, and what is striking about them? And how are women portrayed? Do male artists such as Jan Sluijters, Pablo Picasso and Ilya Kabakov portray women differently from the way Marlene Dumas, Rineke Dijkstra and other female artists paint or photograph them?
The guided tour is free if you have an entrance ticket for the museum but you need to sign up in advance because only 15 people can take part in the tour.
We'll start at the main entrance at 19:00.
