Hallo Cultuur! kick-off cultural season in Eindhoven

Sunday 4 September the Van Abbemuseum participates again in Hallo Cultuur!, the yearly open door day of cultural Eindhoven. This time it's extra festive, since we celebrate our 80th birthday this year. We want to do this with as many people as possible, so both entrance and all activities are free! 

THE PROGRAMME IN THE VAN ABBE:

12.00 – 13.00: Architecture tour 

This tour gives you a detailed picture of both the 80 years old 'old building' by architect A.J. Kropholler and the much younger 'new building' by architect Abel Cahen. Start in the entrance hall. 

13.00 – 13.45: Theater tour De onderzoeker van alle dingen 

in Dutch only! A joyful adventure for the entire family in our collection exhibition. Start in the entrance hall. Reserve online.

13.30 uur and 14.30: Free guided tours “80 years Van Abbe” (45 minutes)

Go on a trip to the highlights of the museum's collection; from works both by the museum's founder Henri van Abbe to the most recent acquisitions. Start in the entrance hall. 

14.00 - 15.00: Special Guests tour in sign language

In Dutch only! Our deaf tour guide Jascha Blume gives a guided tour in sign language. Start in the entrance hall.

14.00 - 16.00: Children's Art Club 

See the artworks in the museum and make your own piece! for kids between 6 and 10 years old. Discover that you are real artist yourself!  Location: education room

14.00 - 16.00: Wild Guests / Zomaargasten  

In Dutch only! An interactive talkshow with hosts  Oscar Kocken and Patrick Nederkoorn. Location: auditorium.

14.00:  Finissage / artist talk with Onno Dirker

Artist Onno Dirker worked in Het Oog, an oval shaped patio in the Van Abbe, for almost 6 months. He talks about his experiences in the project Voltaire, a research into time and space. Location: Het Oog.

15.30: Opening exhibition Return to Rightful Owner by Eva Olthof

In this exhibition, on view until 6 January 2017, Eva Olthof researches the relation between privacy of reading and the public space in a library. Location: library.

Entire day: Garden of Delight salade in Karel 1 museumcafé

Entire day: End of Summer Sale @ museumshop    

Beautiful (art) books and design items for crazy prices! The sale already starts on Saturday 3 September.

Entire day: Photo project 80 meisjes (80 girls) by Rafaël Philippen

Photographer Rafaël Philippen is in the museum with a photo studio for his new project Eighty girls. Have your picture taken and perhaps it will be included in his book "Tachtig meisjes" –  a story in images about girls of all ages!
