Inhaling history, the smell of Bosch - aroma workshop inspired by Bosch
Inhaling history, the smell of Bosch aroma workshop inspired by Bosch
Imagine actually being in Hieronymous Bosch's Garden of Earthly Delights in the Van Abbemuseum in 2016. Bosch’s work will be brought to life by stimulating all your senses in a series of special activities throughout the year. Feel, smell, see, taste and hear how the artist from Den Bosch can continue to inspire you even today.
The surreal worlds created by Bosch evoke both fragrant and less sweet-smelling associations. What did hell in the Last Judgment smell like? What did Bosch smell himself when he was painting? And how does this most undervalued sense of smell work? You’ll find out in this lecture combined with a workshop.
This lecture and workshop are given by Caro Verbeek (aroma historian) and Scentman (AromaJockey). They have been working together for cultural institutions for many years to give visitors an experience which goes beyond the usual visual sensation. They infuse art and the history of art with the fragrance of cultural, historical and sensory information.
