This exhibition shows stencil printings from 1980 until 2018 by the Nijmegen initiative KNUST. All printed works, including artists' books, flyers and posters, are from the collection of Hans Kaaijk in Nijmegen. He has donated his collection to the Van Abbemuseum.
The KNUST Collection
The KNUST Collection consists of around 400 books and printed works that illustrate the history of art in the subculture of the Nijmegen squatters from the turbulent 80s until now. It is an important collection that gives an insight in the changes that Dutch visual culture underwent during this period. While in the early years of the existence of KNUST, variation on the themes, experimenting with forms and working in groups is characteristic, over time the printed matter of KNUST grows into an illustration of analogue craftsmanship mixed with new digital possibilities. This exhibition will prove inspiration for all lovers of contemporary art and design.
The exhibition is on show from 03.09 until 15.11.2019 from Tuesday until Friday, 11:00 - 17:00 h.
A catalogue in English KNUST, the Hans Kaaijk collection Van Abbemuseum is available in the museumshop for €17.50.
