! Talks will be held in Dutch.
On 2 March, the exhibition 'Kunstkameraden' opened in the Van Abbemuseum. A happy and positive project, because children and youngsters who have a past as refugee or/and have needed help from different youth care organizations in Brabant use art to express themselves. In the workshops of artists they were treated as co-artists and these collaborations resulted in beautiful, moving and personal artworks.
On Thursday 16 March, in the Dutch Happiness Week, the Van Abbemuseum is a happiness hotspot. You will meet two of the duos in person: filmmaker Justus van den Elzen made the film ' Meneer Dropje' (Mister Licorice) with Imtiaaz and they will tell you how much fun it was. Mohamed, who worked with artist Claudette van de Rakt, will invite you to come and sit with him and his artwork to have an interactive experience.
18.30 Kick-off with Katrien van Hettema, one of the participating artists.
18.45 Movie 'Meneer Dropje' and talk with Justus and Imtiaaz.
19.30 Short tour in the exhibition and an invitation to sit with Mohamed and his artwork.
A valid museum entrance ticket is needed to attend this event. On Thursday nights, students have free entrance (from 17.00 hrs). At all times, 50% discount with city pass, and free entrance with Museumkaart.
