Lavinia Meijer plays Philip Glass Club Cross-Linx concert
Lavinia Meijer plays Philip Glass in the Van Abbemuseum, presented by Club Cross-linx
Fairytale-like compositions among contemporary art
Lavinia Meijer (1983) is one of the most famous faces of Dutch classical music. Originally from South Korea, this harpist has regularly been seen on De Wereld Draait Door and Podium Witteman and she is a returning guest to Muziekgebouw Eindhoven. One who is not afraid to experiment. As such, Meijer recently performed together with Twan Huys and with Gare Du Nord, but she also took part in Cross-Linx 2014. Lavinia Meijer plays her own compositions as well as contemporary arrangements from a variety of names, including Radiohead and Philip Glass. With the approval of the latter, Meijer arranged several of his works. This resulted in intoxicating and minimalistic music, performed for the first time on the harp. Within the framework of Club Cross-linx, Lavinia Meijer presents three of these poignant pieces during an exclusive concert.
The concert will take place in a very unusual concert location. Surrounded by modern art, Lavinia will actually perform in the Van Abbemuseum. An exhibition about the 1980s will premiere in the museum around this performance. No wonder that Meijer has therefore prepared three Glass compositions from this decade. You will hear the works Études and Koyaanisqatsi as well as the five-part Metamorphosis. Although the last comes from her platinum album ‘Metamorphosis / The Hours’ (2013), you can expect an extra dimension in this live performance. This evening will undoubtedly be a wonderful and virtuoso experience.
Tickets cost €15,00 are on sale on the website of Muziekgebouw Eindhoven.
