Let's Talk About Art! a workshop surrounding the exhibition Rasheed Araeen: A Retrospective
In the last weekend of the exhibition ‘Rasheed Araeen: A Retrospective’ Buro Kato will give a workshop with a focus on storytelling. Rasheed Araeen is a London-based conceptual artist, sculptor, painter, writer and curator. The exhibition, spanning 60 years of work, presents a body of work that has had a profound influence on generations of artists, writers and thinkers. The work of Araeen focusses mainly on diversity and the ideology and military differences between the West and East.
Social design studio Buro Kato created a workshop especially for the Van Abbemuseum based on this exhibition.
Groups will tour around the exhibition, each with a camera and a statement based on Rasheed’s work. It will be an investigative experience, analysing the exhibition to find work that supports the statement that you have been told.
After this aspect of the event the groups will rejoin and discuss the stories they have been discovering, using the photos as support. The focus will be on changing viewpoints and examining multiple perspectives.
Buro Kato will lead the discussion and speak about their social design work and their experiences with working with refugees.
We offer you this workshop for FREE. Would you like to participate, send yac@vanabbe.nl an email!
