Radically Mine!Talented students show their work in the Van Abbe
The Radically Mine project will take place for the 10th time this year! That means it’s time for a party! 416 pupils from 11 vocational and other secondary schools will make their own works of art, inspired by works of art from the Van Abbemuseum collection in Eindhoven. Following the joint kick-off at the museum, the pupils will start work on the project during lessons at school, and it will conclude when the exhibition opens on Thursday 18 April. A selection of the pupils’ works of art will then be exhibited in the Van Abbemuseum.
Strabrecht College (Geldrop), Montessori College (Eindhoven), Augustinianum (Eindhoven), Jeroen Bosch College (Den Bosch), SUMMA Fashion (Eindhoven), De Berkenschutse (Heeze), Carolus Borremeus College (Helmond), Sint-Joris College (Eindhoven), Heerbeeck College (Best), Rythovius College (Eersel) and Were Di (Valkenswaard).
This year the Radically Mine project is in its tenth year and we are celebrating this with a large comprehensive exhibition of works of art from the museum collection and by looking back at the works of art of former participants in the last ten years, presented on four floors in the tower of the museum’s new building. The works of art of all the pupils provide a different perspective on our museum collection, and that’s why the theme of the exhibition is: A Chorus of Voices. This is also a theme which recurs in the work of the Eindhoven artist Tijs Rooijakkers. He will present his “Supertoll” project in the heart of the tower. This work started in the museum with texts by the rapper Fresku, then went on to the district of Woensel to collect stories from the residents there, and is now back in the museum.
The Van Abbemuseum believes that it is important for the museum to be accessible and inclusive for everyone, irrespective of any challenges they may face. For this reason pupils from special education also take part in the project. After all, creative talent extends beyond the limitations of disabilities. Proof of this comes from the pupils of De Berkenschutse, an educational center for pupils with epilepsy, pupils with long-term conditions, pupils with extreme learning difficulties, pupils with multiple disabilities and pupils with autism.
A number of works of art will be selected for the exhibition in the Van Abbemuseum from every participating class. A catalogue will be drawn up of all the participating works of art (including the works which are not exhibited in the museum). All the pupils will have a page with a short text, a photograph of the work of art they made, the three works of art they selected and their photograph.
The festive opening of the Radically Mine! Exhibition in the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven will take place at 15.00 on Thursday 18 April. The exhibition will be on from 18 April to 16 June.
THE BIG RADICALLY MINE REUNION

Developing talent with Kunstbende
The Van Abbemuseum and Kunstbende Noord-Brabant are once again working together to continue to develop the talents of these young people and provide a platform for young talent. Kunstbende is the national competition for young creative talent. When the works of art are selected at the nine participating schools, eight talented pupils will receive a wild card. This will give them direct access to the Kunstbende regional final in the MEZZ in Breda on Sunday 15 April.
A catalogue will accompany the exhibition and will soon be available to view online.
