18/04/2019 - 16/06/2019
Curator: Marleen Hartjes

Radically Mine!

416 students from eleven secondary school were inspired by the collection and created their own artwork from the theme of polyphony. A selection can be seen in the project room 2 of the museum.

Students from vmbo, havo, vwo and special education between the ages of 15 and 19 give a glimpse into their perceptions through the artworks. This tenth edition is characterized by a strikingly engaged and critical attitude of the students and the intimate personal stories that lie behind many of the works. Vote for your favorite artwork for the audience award via rm.19.vanabbe.nl until June 15. On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Radically Mine! there is an exhibition in the tower with a selection of artworks from talented youngsters from recent years combined with their highlights from the collection.

Selection

A number of works of art will be selected for the exhibition in the Van Abbemuseum from every participating class. A catalogue will be drawn up of all the participating works of art (including the works which are not exhibited in the museum). All the pupils will have a page with a short text, a photograph of the work of art they made, the three works of art they selected and their photograph.

Sunday tours

While the exhibition is on, special tours will be organized on several Sundays by junior guides who are also exhibiting their own work in this exhibition. Go to the programme overview to make a reservation.

A jury prize and a public prize

During the opening of the exhibition three winners of the jury prize were announced. In addition to the jury prize there will also be a public prize. The public will be able to vote for their favorite work of art online until Friday 14 June. The winner will then be announced on Saturday 15 June. Cast your vote via rm19.vanabbe.nl.

Developing talent with Kunstbende

The Van Abbemuseum and Kunstbende Noord-Brabant are once again working together to continue to develop the talents of these young people and provide a platform for young talent. Kunstbende is the national competition for young creative talent. When the works of art are selected at the nine participating schools, eight talented pupils will receive a wild card. This gave them direct access to the Kunstbende regional final in the MEZZ in Breda which was held on Sunday 15 April.

Participating schools

Strabrecht College (Geldrop), Montessori College (Eindhoven), Augustinianum (Eindhoven), Jeroen Bosch College (Den Bosch), SUMMA Fashion (Eindhoven), De Berkenschutse (Heeze), Carolus Borremeus College (Helmond), Sint-Joris College (Eindhoven), Heerbeeck College (Best), Rythovius College (Eersel) en Were Di (Valkenswaard).
