Radically Ours - 10 years worth of young perspectives on the museum collection
Radically Ours 10 years worth of young perspectives on the museum collection
Radically Ours: 10 years of Radically Mine!
10 years of museum collection through the eyes of high school students: exhibition with artworks of talented young people.
What started as an education project in collaboration with the Strabrecht College, has become an important part of the Van Abbemuseum's collection presentation. For 10 years, around 2,000 young people have been inspired by the artworks in the museum. With their own work they add their perspectives to the story of the collection. The exhibition shows a selection of artworks made by students, combined with the collection pieces that inspired them the most. On show are works by Francis Bacon, Rineke Dijkstra, Sol LeWitt, Marlene Dumas, Allan McCollum, Juan Muñoz, Charley Toorop, Antonio Saura and Jörg Immendorff. Radically Ours can be seen in the tower of the collection building until 30 June 2019.
416 students from eleven secondary school were inspired by the collection and created their own artwork from the theme of polyphony. A selection can be seen in the project room 2 of the museum.
Students from vmbo, havo, vwo and special education between the ages of 15 and 19 give a glimpse into their perceptions through the artworks. This tenth edition is characterized by a strikingly engaged and critical attitude of the students and the intimate personal stories that lie behind many of the works. Vote for your favorite artwork for the audience award via rm.19.vanabbe.nl until June 15.
