Relinking - Patricia Kaersenhout
Relinking Patricia Kaersenhout
The installation Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner Too? by Patricia Kaersenhout (1966) is devoted to portraying a more complete and honest image of world history. The work consists of four large triangular tables at which she places sixty black women and women of colour. All of them resisted oppression and inequality during their lifetimes.
Relinking
Who’s Coming To Dinner Too? was jointly acquired by four Dutch museums in 2021, including the Van Abbemuseum. The exhibition Relinking: Patricia Kaersenhout presents one of these four tables which gives fifteen forgotten and under-recognised heroines a stage. Visitors are introduced to them through an audio tour narrated by the artist.
Activity programme
An important part of the exhibition is the extensive activity programme that builds upon their legacies. This programme has been organised by women who are committed to society in different ways.
Purchased with the support of the Vereniging Rembrandt (in part thanks to its Titus Fund, its Caius Fund, its Desirée Lambers Fund and the annual contribution of the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds) and the Mondriaan Fund.
