The collection under construction

The new building of the Van Abbemuseum, the collection building, showcases a large selection of our collection works. During spring 2017 the collection display will be changed. Floor by floor, the exhibition The Collection Now will make room for a new series of collection exhibitions. During the change over from one floor, the other floors will remain open to visitors; there will still be more than enough to see. Besides, more exhibitions will be on show in other parts of the museum, for example the solo exhibition by Qiu Zhijie in the old building. 

Below you will find an overview per floor to which date The Collection Now can still be visited, when each floor will be closed and when the new exhibitions open. 

Ground floor

You can visit The Collection Now: 1909-1975 - Modernity in Western Europe and the United States on the ground floor till Sunday 2 April. On 3 April this floor will be closed and will be changed in the new exhibition The Making of Modern Art which opens on 29 April.

First floor

On the first floor you can visit The Collection Now, 1965-1985 - Countercultures and the DIY Archive until 2 July. From 3 July until 23 September this floor will be closed. 

Second floor

The Collection Now, 1983-now - The global and the local can be admired until 11 June. The new exhibition,The Way Beyond Art, can be visited from 1 July onwards.
