Please note! This activity has been canceled!

At the exhibition Qiu Zhijie: Journeys without Arrivals one room is dedicated to the Nanjing Bridge Project. The Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge was built in 1968 and recognised in China as a symbol of the nation’s modernisation. At the same time thousands of people have been recorded to commit suicide at the bridge. Since 2007, Qiu Zhijie has set up a research to explore the relation between the national history and personal destiny. For the Nanjing Bridge Project he has conducted intense fieldwork on the bridge, collaborated with suicide rescue volunteers on the bridge, as well as created a rich body of artistic productions. A number of art works from the project are juxtaposed in the exhibition room 9. In this room you can find, among others, video works, prints and installations.

In this tour and talk, art historian Yao Zhou invites you to be immersed in the exhibits in the room and exchange ideas and thoughts about the questions that Qiu Zhijie's research provoke.

What is depicted in The Nanjing Series? Why does Qiu write "Where is the capital of Madagascar?" on the bridge? How does art function in the Soul Inn? What role can art play in similar social issues? Together we explore the meaning of time, memory and destiny.

When you buy your ticket, your place is reserved. Note that you also need a valid museum entry ticket. Did you know that students have free entrance on thursday nights from 17.00 hrs? And that you get a 50% discount with your Eindhoven city card?
