Toy Hacking Young Art Crowd activity

19:00 - 21:00

In February we have something cool for you in store: Toyhacking!

Toy hacking involves dissecting toys of all kinds, disrupting their electronic circuits and reassembling them into new creations. The workshop will be given by David NG McCallum (originally from Canada), an artist whose work flirts with improvised performance, Do It Yourself electronics, bicycles and digging through systems. He was a guest researcher at the Smart Textiles Design Lab at the Swedish School Of Textiles. Currently he’s also a lecturer at the department of Industrial Design of the Technical University in Eindhoven.

Get an introduction to electronics and create your own toy in a non-threatening way! Explore several themes through the toys, like codified gender roles, globalisation of production, aspects of play and activism through making these toys.
