Van Abbemuseum vitrine at Piet Hein Eek

23/01/2011 - continuous

Since January 23, 2011, the Van Abbemuseum and Piet Hein Eek have collaborated. In a specially designed vitrine at the gallery Piet Hein Eek on Strijp R, an ever-changing selection of works can be seen from the collection of the Van Abbemuseum. Works that are usually shown in the museum can now be seen in a completely different environment. The selections of works are selected by the artists who exhibit their works at that time in the gallery of Piet Hein Eek. "This collaboration offers the museum new opportunities to explore the boundaries of art and design, something we are already doing with our participation in Dutch Design Week, thereby promoting the collaboration between various creative parties in the city of Eindhoven," says Charles Esche, director of the Van Abbemuseum. As Eek describes this cooperation, "all this is in strong contrast to the traditional image of a museum, that is like a cellar for art, which nobody can enjoy."
