Join the Van Abbemuseum Choir

The Van Abbemuseum Choir has been an integral part of the museum since 2013. Under the direction of conductor Willy de Rooij, the choir explores the connections between voice, listening and contemporary art through musical tours, performances and unique collaborations both within and beyond the museum.

Since January 2026, the choir has been working with artist Ayumi Paul. Through this long-term collaboration, we are exploring new ways of singing, listening and learning together. At the same time, we are looking ahead: how can the choir continue to evolve, and what role might it play in the future of the museum? As part of this process, we warmly welcome new members.

Are you curious about singing, listening and contemporary art? Would you like to take part in workshops, performances and public programmes at the museum? Join us for an open rehearsal and get to know the choir. The new season begins on 24 August. The choir then rehearses every Monday from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm at the Van Abbemuseum.

During the open rehearsal, you will have the opportunity to meet the choir, experience how we work and get to know the group. Afterwards, you can decide whether you would like to join. No previous singing or choir experience is required. We welcome anyone who is interested in singing together, listening attentively and exploring contemporary art.
