Citizens' Council
In the garden of the Van Abbemuseum there will be a new, iconic work of art for which we would like to ask you to help decide! A total of 8,000 Eindhoven residents will receive a letter and thus have a chance of winning a place in the Citizens' Council that will choose this work of art. And you are one of them!
What is a Citizens' Council?
During a Citizens' Council, residents discuss a certain issue several times. Next, they make recommendations together. Together, they then offer advice that the inventor of the issue can take up.
What is the Citizens' Council about?
During the Citizens' Council, 50 Eindhoven citizens will discuss the new work of art in the exterior space of the Van Abbemuseum. The museum would like to donate an iconic work of art to the city and therefore places it in a place where everyone can see it: in the museum's garden. What do you think is important when it comes to art? What should the artwork comply with? What suits the city? This is what we are all going to talk about. It doesn't matter what you know or think about art, everyone can contribute. At the end of the citizens' meeting, a joint recommendation will be made on which work of art deserves this spot.
Why did I receive an invitation?
The invitation was sent to 8,000 randomly selected residents of Eindhoven aged 16 or older.
Draw
When you apply, you will participate in a draw. From this draw, 50 participants will be selected for the citizens' meeting. We do this based on some characteristics because we would like to involve as many different people as possible, with different backgrounds, ages, education levels and from all kinds of neighbourhoods in this project!
Why should you participate?
- You help choose an iconic artwork for the city of Eindhoven.
- You get access (outside opening hours) to the museum during the meetings.
- You get 4 free tickets to the van Abbemuseum to visit the museum with friends or family after the citizens' meeting.
- You can participate and influence.
- You will learn and meet other Eindhoven citizens.
We want everyone to be able to participate. For example, you may bring along a language buddy to make it easier to participate in Dutch. Do you need other support to be able to participate? Let us know and together we will find a solution.
When is it?
The Citizens' Council will meet three times in November and December:
- Saturday 16 November from 10am - 3pm;
