Thursday evening open a variety of creative and inspiring events
Every first Thursday evening of the month, the Van Abbemuseum organizes a variety of creative and inspiring events. On Thursday 2 May you can join the drawing workshop hosted by Helen Storm. The friends have in their monthly Vriendensalon artist Tijs Rooijakkers as a guest. Will we see you there?
Helen Storm
Thursday evening May 2 Helen Storm will host another drawing workshop in the museum, this time inspired by the artworks of Stijn Peeters. One of the walls in the collection building are now being filled with linocuts from Peeters. In his works, he zooms in on casual bystanders and passers-by in images he found in the media. He puts people in the spotlight who initially have a minimal role in a photo or film.

Vriendensalon: Tijs Rooijakkers
Thursday evening May 2 artist Tijs Rooijakkers will be a guest of the Vriendensalon. Rooijakkers has been working on the Woensel Supertoll! art project since 2013. In that same year, he built a monumental timber wall inside the museum, which rapper Fresku embellished with drawings and hand-written texts. Rooijakkers then used the boards from that wall to construct a gigantic wooden spinning top. The project was later moved to Woensel, where local residents contributed to it. The Woensel Supertoll! has now returned and can be seen in the tower of the museum. In the Salon he will talk about his art project. Make a reservation via info@vriendenvanabbe.nl until 1 May.
Access to the museum after 5 pm is free for students, CJP-holders and CKE-card holders.
