Michael Portnoy, The Fifth Place

On October 17, during the opening of Museum as Sundial, Michael Portnoy will lead the audience into a new work within The Fifth Place, a social space devoted to behavioural experimentation. Participants enter a live score, each assigned a distinct role within a system designed to reengineer the levers of ordinary interaction: language, gesture, conceptual framing and etiquette. As roles and rules collide, they generate more abstract, inventive forms of togetherness.
