Christmas lights wanted for art project
Donate your old Christmas lights and get free entry!
Every day
Do you have old or new Christmas lights you no longer use? Donate them for a special art project in Eindhoven! Together with Spanish-Icelandic artists Libia Castro and Ólafur Ólafsson, we are working on a series of light artworks with which we want to put the importance of social and cultural initiatives for the city in a special light. The works will be exhibited on the garden of the museum and various creative spaces in Eindhoven.
Why are we doing this?
With this art project, we want to draw attention to the right to shared spaces. Many self-organised cultural and social groups in the city struggle to remain visible and get a place. With this campaign, we want to recognize their value and show how important these groups are to Eindhoven's active and diverse community.
How can you help?
Anyone can donate lighting: old or new plug-in light cords, Christmas lights, or other outdoor lighting (do check that it is suitable for outdoor use). It doesn't matter what size or type of light, as long as it works. You can hand in the lights at the ticket counter at any time, during opening hours.
What do you get in return?
If you have handed in your lights at the ticket counter, you will receive free entry to the museum as well as a special print by the artists. The works will be displayed on the museum garden and various creative spaces in Eindhoven and are part of the exhibition Art is a Verb.
Co-producer of the artwork
If you donate lighting, you will also be included in the listing of co-producers of the artwork. This way, you too will be part of this special project!
