Summer Art Club: our climate studio

Stories, art, and nature come together in the Summer Art Club: our climate studio — a series of three creative workshops reflecting on our relationship with the Earth. Each session lasts two hours and can be attended individually, but together they form a continuous narrative: from memory to imagination to action. Led by museum educator Diewke van den Heuvel.

Young and old work side by side in an open studio setting, where personal memories of nature are transformed into artworks using natural and recycled materials. You’ll discover how art can connect, deepen understanding, and inspire change.

What you’ll do

Workshop 1: Remembering – Stories from nature
Date: July 30
What does nature mean to you? In this session, we’ll explore personal memories through conversation and imagination. You’ll create small works using natural materials — objects, landscapes, or collages that reflect your connection to nature.

Workshop 2: Shaping – Art of connection
Date: August 6
We’ll make our connection to nature tangible in a collaborative artwork. Inspired by artists like Andy Goldsworthy and Ana Mendieta, we’ll work in groups to create a large piece — a landscape, altar, or tree of life made from memories and materials.

Workshop 3: Passing It On – Art as climate action
Date: August 13
How can art make a difference? In this final session, participants will create a piece that carries a message — a call, a memory, or a wish for the future. We’ll end with a mini-exhibition or action, either in the museum or in public space.

Who it’s for

• Parents/adults together with children (please note: children must be accompanied by an adult)
• People who fancy a relaxing and artistic afternoon!

• Materials: We work as much as possible with natural and recycled materials — feel free to bring something from home
• Cost: €7.50 per participant per session
• No museum ticket required
