Library Exhibition Constellations of Collectivity

This exhibition brings together different artistic groupings: the early avant-garde from the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union, the Groupe de Grasse from Grasse (FR), and the Dvizhenie group from Moscow (SU).

These groupings form constellations that are, at first glance, very different from one another. Yet they often asked the same questions. What does the future look like? How can we coexist? And what role can art and imagination play in that coexistence?

Each group responded to large and sometimes horrific developments, such as the Russian Revolution, World Wars, and state repression. Together, they looked for new ways of moving forward. Some turned to technology, spirituality, or the cosmos, and many sought out unique forms of collaboration.
