The Bottom Line (to Kathrin Böhm)
Description
'The Bottom Line (to Kathrin Böhm)' by Céline Condorelli is a curtain, made of gold and silvercoloured insulation material. A curtain in public space can have different functions. In Western restaurants and bars it keeps the wind out, in the Middle East it keeps men and women apart. Here, it envelops Onur’s installation as a protective gesture. Condorelli is interested in constructions that literally or symbolically offer support. Relationships, in the sense of mutual dependence, attraction, and inspiration form the basis of her work and her collaborations with others. Her titles often contain a reference to a friend. For her, friendship is an important guiding principle in asking how we interact with the world around us, what we are loyal to, what we are responsible for, and what we add to this world.
