New World Summit - Rojava
Description
This video documents the first New World Summit in Rojava, which took place on October 16 and 17, 2015, during which an international delegation of stateless organizations, progressive political parties, academics, artists, and students were brought together with representatives of the Democratic Self-Administration of Rojava. Over a period of two days the key terms from the pillars of the People’s Parliament of Rojava – democratic confederalism, gender equality, secularism, self-defense, communalism, and social ecology – were presented consecutively by prominent Rojavan representatives and discussed with the delegation. People’s Defense Units (YPG) commander Hussein Shawish, who spoke of the relation between military, cultural, and educational self-defense, died in a car accident in 2016.
